Real Life Stories
The Food Bank of El Dorado County’s mission is to provide comprehensive services in collaboration with other hunger response agencies that will help transform the lives of people in need. Last year alone, our volunteers, financial supporters, and product donors teamed up with the Food Bank of El Dorado County’s emergency food assistance network and made it possible to solicit, transport, warehouse, and distribute over $3.5 million of food product to at-risk populations in communities throughout El Dorado County.
“I am in need of food assistance for my family and I. This is the first time we have ever not had money or food and I really don't know what to do. There are five of us total, two adults and three children ages 3,7 & 10 - thank you for your help.” —Rachelle
“Thank you so much for the weekend food packs. Just a short note to let you know how much we appreciate the wonderful food bags you gave us this past Friday, “weekend food packs” or at least that’s how I understood they were named. Anyways the children really enjoyed the yogurt ,the soup, the milk, the apple juice , the oranges the protein bars as well as the pudding. , though I only let them have a couple of puddings! It made our weekend so much better and is so nice to have those extra food items in our fridge! The kids loved all the snacks and it felt god to be able to them to them. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for that extra help , it really came in handy and put something in the refrigerator other than our basic food needs it was a little something extra that brought a smile to the kids’ faces and with those smiles it brought a big smile to my face,. Thank you again we really appreciate it!” —Anonymous
“I am embarrassed to find myself in this position. I started a new job & am waiting to get paid. Unfortunately my cupboards & fridge are running empty. I really could use some assistance with food. I appreciate your response. Thank you.” —Anonymous
